From the speech by Notker Wolf, the Abbot Primate,
during the World Congress of Abbots
at Sant’Anselmo in Rome, September 2008

“I cannot end without mentioning our oblates. Numbers are growing throughout the world. Interest in spirituality is increasing. In Sant’ Anselmo itself we have some news oblates. Three years ago I called a world congress of oblates. This was done without any intention to centralize the oblates who remain attached to their individual monasteries. The intention was, rather, to promote contacts between oblates similar to those between monastic houses. This makes reciprocal inspiration possible. The idea was welcomed with great enthusiasm and at the moment we are preparing the second such congress.”
